Scope
Included and excluded work, quantities, materials, timing and responsibilities should be clear before authorisation.
Every ONBOARD tool applies the same owner-side logic to costs, work and decisions: scope, cost, change control and evidence.
Four control areas connect what is proposed, what is paid, what may change and what must be documented. The same logic runs through every ONBOARD tool.
Included and excluded work, quantities, materials, timing and responsibilities should be clear before authorisation.
Amounts, calculation rules, labour, materials, payments and ancillary charges are read as one economic picture.
Extras, time-and-material work and changes need an approval rule before they become additional cost.
Warranty terms, tests, final documents and completion records make agreed work and outcomes verifiable.
The method does not rate a supplier and does not replace technical, legal or tax advice. It structures what needs to be clear, authorised and verifiable before a decision becomes a cost.
| Area | What is checked | Signal to clarify | Decision protected |
|---|---|---|---|
| ScopeScope | Work items, quantities, materials, exclusions, timing and responsibilities. | Generic descriptions, implied activities or undefined job boundaries. | Understand what is actually included before authorising the work. |
| CostCost | Amounts, taxes, labour, materials, payments, transport and yard charges. | A total without calculation logic or cost lines that cannot be separated and compared. | Compare the economic proposal on more consistent grounds. |
| Change controlChange control | Extras, time-and-material work, travel, changes and written approvals. | Additional work can proceed without prior approval or a pricing rule. | Prevent an open quotation from becoming an uncontrolled cost. |
| EvidenceEvidence | Warranty, tests, sign-off, final documentation and proof of completion. | Final payment is not tied to checks, deliverables or closing documentation. | Verify what was agreed before closing the job. |
Quote Check is the first operational example of the method: it applies these four areas to one quotation and turns gaps into concrete supplier questions.
